Adoptable Cats and Kittens

Gimlet
DOB(Approx.): 3/10/11
Sex: Female
Breed Mix: DSH (Black with some faint Tabby stripes)
Spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, complete vet exam
Gimlet is extremely beautiful, even regal. Her blue/black shiny coat and her exquisite bone structure add to her stunning appearance. She has gold eyes and faint Tabby "shadow stripes" on her legs.
Gimlet was rescued with her siblings months ago. She was the shyest kitten in the litter, but we never gave up on pretty Gimlet! Foster mom Carol worked with Gimlet for several weeks, and, since then, Gimlet has been Shay's project kitten (now teenage cat). A recent breakthrough was when Gimlet actually jumped into Shay's lap to be held and petted!
Gimlet is still on the shy side but warms easily and now actually SEEKS affection and will curl into your lap and stay there to be cuddled and petted. What progress! The ideal home for Gimlet would be one with a patient human who will help Gimlet transition to her new surroundings and give her lots of love. Gimlet gets along perfectly with the resident cats and, in fact, she's taken on a "mama" role to the young foster kittens. (We have not tested Gimlet with a dog. She should do well around gentle children, so long as the environment isn't raucous.)
Gimlet's foster mom Shay writes: "All Gimlet needs is a gentle and loving person to give her a forever home. In return, you will have a loyal and loving friend for life!"

Beatrix
DOB(Approx): 8/8/10
Sex: Female
Breed Mix: DSH Classic Tabby
Spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, complete vet exam
Beatrix and her nursing kittens were left at a local Salvation Army in a box. We received a call and took the mom and her babies, deciding to choose Beatrix Potter names for this family. (Please find Tom Kitten, Benjamin Bunny, Hunca Munca, Moppet and Ribby ...the kittens...also posted.)
Beatrix is simply lovely, one of the prettiest cats in memory. She is a small cat (although her photo makes her look like a mini Mountain Lion). Still thin from caring for kittens, Beatrix weighs about six to seven pounds. She'll fill out and will likely weigh about eight, still quite petite. She has a lovely, delicate frame and a beautiful coat with deep taupe coloration and lots of white accents....and her Tabby markings are exquisite, hard to capture in photos. Beatrix' eyes are stunning.....the color of the sea....sometimes blue, sometimes green.
She is being fostered by our director....temporarily in a studio with lots of space. Beatrix is gentle, responsive, affectionate, comes when called and responds to "stay" when we need to exit or enter. She's a perfect litter box citizen and has no bad habits. A LOVELY cat.

Ava
DOB(Approx): 9/4/11
Sex: Female
Breed Mix: DSH Russian Blue
Spayed, vaccinated, complete vet exam
Special needs: Genetic malformation of her lower spine limits use of her rear legs. See more below.
Oh, my! Ava is a treasure!! This little 3.75 pound six month old Russian Blue girl has absolutely captured our hearts. (James and Mary, founder of Feline Rescue, have been short term foster parents to over 500 cats and kittens, and this little bundle is off the charts.)
She is gorgeous with soft Russian Blue silver accents and large, round eyes. She was born with a malformation of her lower spine....some curvature and one small twist, so she has limited use of her rear legs. But, she moves easily and without pain and has no trouble getting in and out of her litter box. She has the loudest and most continuous purr of any cat, and she is patient, happy to meet each of our resident cats (no fear) and has the tiniest meow. She should be fine in a number of settings....sedentary cat or dog should be fine, older children, too. The one thing she can't do is wrestle or do any rough play...nothing that might twist her body, as that would be painful. We've done extensive x-rays and consulted with vets and a neurologist and have more info.
From her foster mom: "Ava is special, special, special. Ava loves to turn and look up at us when she's in our lap, giving us nose kisses and purring all the while. She is not demanding, happy to play in her little sleep sock, not at all fazed by our other cats, actually would love to play or cuddle. She will bring joy to the lucky person who adopts her!"

Holly
DOB(Approx.): 8/15/11
Sex: Female
Breed Mix: DSH Tortie
Spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, complete vet exam
Holly is one of our wonderful Literary Kittens, each named for a figure in American literature. Holly (Golightly) is the heroine in Breakfast at Tiffany's, and, of course, the name also connotes Christmas holly. Our Holly is a stunning Tortoiseshell with classic deep brown, rust and white coloring. Her paws are a soft camel, and she has a cream colored spot on her chin. Holly's eyes are amber, lovely and expressive. Holly was rescued in a vacant field near a local high school, not a very safe area for an orphaned litter of kittens! She and sister Phoebe (also posted) have been lovingly fostered and are ready for adoption.
Holly's foster mom writes: "Holly and Phoebe were very frightened at first. It took some time and patience ....and lots of cuddling...to help them relax and trust us big humans. Holly is still a little shy but purrs almost instantly when we hold her and is very relaxed lying in my lap. She'll continue to blossom in a home with lots of love and gentle people."

Treetop
DOB(Approx): 2005 (7 years)
Sex: Female
Breed Mix: DSH Lynx Pt. Siamese
Spayed, vaccinated, complete vet exam
From the foster mom Bonnie: "This lovely girl was rescued from a treetop by my daughter Julie who tried climbing to the top of the tree where dogs had chased "Treetop." We had to call the fire department for help. Treetop is such a pretty girl and loves to be indoors, happy to snuggle in a warm spot. She'll make a perfect addition to any family. She should do well with friendly cats and school age children but has had no experience with dogs.

Olivia
DOB(Approx): 6/8/10
Sex: Female
Breed Mix: DLH Bi-color (Tuxedo)
Spayed, vaccinated, complete vet exam
"Olivia" is named for Shakespeare's elegant heiress Olivia in the Twelfth Night. How perfect.
With her elegant and breathtaking white ruff, one can't help but think of the Elizabethan era and the wonderful collars (ruffs) that women wore....the more elaborate, the higher the status. Our lovely Olivia is off the chart! She is one of the most beautiful cat's we've ever had the good fortune to rescue.
"Olivia" was well known on the boulevard where she was rescued. She appeared frequently at the banks and hair salons, happy to be fed, purring and offering friendship. After we learned she didn't have a home, we placed her with foster mom Susan. At first, Susan's resident cat Fabio was not pleased. However, with a little time, the two cats seem to have found a way to co-exist.
Olivia's foster mom Susan writes: Olivia is a truly delightful young cat, maybe a year old. She is very playful and has an "alpha" personality. She is very funny and has me smiling all the time. She sleeps through the night, has a good appetite, and....she's incredibly beautiful. She's very nice with guests and happily greets them at the door. However, she seems particularly bonded to me and probably will bond with her new "person." Olivia follows me around like a puppy, helps me clean house, helps me put on my makeup. She likes to play in dripping water and is not at all fearful....even of the vacuum cleaner!
"I'm not sure how she'll do with another cat or friendly dog. She doesn't seem to like Fabio; her interaction with him is less than sweet, but she has never hurt him in any way...just his feelings. When she plays, she's gentle, no claws out, sometimes nipping gently. I like her a lot and believe she'll make some lucky person a wonderful companion. I'll miss her!"
Olivia does NOT like to be in a cage! (We tried putting her at Debbie's Pet Boutique, and she absolutely hated being in the three tiered wire kennel.) When her foster mom travels with Olivia, she simply picks her up and puts her in the car, and Olivia seems to enjoy the car ride. (Olivia has been transported in a carrier with reasonable success; she just doesn't like it.)
We believe Olivia should do well as a solo cat, not sure about another cat or dog. Cat savvy children should be fine.

Mojo
DOB(Approx): 7 years
Sex: Male
Breed Mix: DSH Black
Neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, complete vet exam
Beloved pets of "Eunice" and "Harold", Mojo and his brother Max were orphaned when their human companions passed away this year. "Billy", Eunice and Harold's son, is also seriously ill and living in a one room rental that doesn't allow pets. He cam to us for help.
Mojo is a handsome guy with an all black coat, bits of white fluff and striking white whiskers. He is gregarious and personable and enjoys chatting with his foster parents. His foster dad writes: "We love Mojo and his brother Max. They're very sweet, interesting cats. Mojo sometimes follow us on walks and is quite playful. He's a little bossy with his brother, and I think each would be best in a home of his own. I've found a real connection with Mojo and enjoy him very much."
Mojo would be fine as a solo cat or with another nice cat or gentle dog. The foster parents are happy to share more about Mojo and brother Max to help find the right fit for each.
This cat is part of our "Priceless" program. Make a donation in lieu of an adoption fee. (See "Adoptable Cats" first page for more information.)
